Winner of 1955 Le Mans, Mike Hawthorn, driving a Jaguar. He has to cool it because of local pedestrians and traffic.

Man Jag should return to serious racing. As should Bentley.

Amazing, how much a track can change in 60 years, while still having almost the same layout.

The late Mr Hawthorn and I have at least one thing in common: we’ve both driven along the Mulsanne Straight, or the road to Mulsanne as it usually is. I was at the 24 hours some years ago and a couple of days before the race I was heading towards Mulsanne on a seemingly innocuous road when I suddenly realised where I was.

That’s really neat!

Shouldn’t have been a winner in ‘55, though. Jaguar got a lot of heat in the press for not retiring after the accident.
